About our club

The Hope Ward Tennis Club is located in Cumberland Park between Tweed and Severn Streets, immediately behind the Cumberland Park Kindergarten on the Tweed Street side. Our facilities include a modern clubhouse and covered outdoor viewing area, and four recently resurfaced high quality Tru-flex tennis courts, two of which are floodlit.

Located on land formerly known as 'Hope Ward Reserve', the Club was established in 1930 and was incorporated in 1978.

The Club fields teams in the Southern Districts Tennis Association (SDTA) Junior and Senior Competitions in summer, catering for children and adults of all ages and standards. While the summer season is our primary focus, we also field some teams in the Winter Pennant competition controlled by Tennis SA played from May through to August.

We compete hard on the court, but also pride ourselves on our Club's friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and the fun we have off the court. We have a wide demographic representation among our members and are extremely family-friendly. Several of our members have even met their future spouses at or through the Club (for which we take no responsibility!).

We are always looking for new members, so if you are interested in playing tennis and making new friends we would love to hear from you. We hold regular social events during the summer season.

Membership includes access to our tennis courts at all times they are not subject to prior bookings.

If you would like more information about our Club please browse our website, and contact our President or Secretary for more information.
